Recent innovations in mass spectrometry technology empower us to capture comprehensive and impartial profiles of proteins, lipids, and metabolites found within cells and tissues. By generating these profiles under various conditions and disease states, we can derive valuable insights into disease mechanisms and identify potential countermeasures to their detrimental impacts. In the Tafesse lab, our focus is on investigating the impacts of various human pathogens on the overall cellular state, and we create detailed maps of cellular lipidome, metabolome, and proteome during infection.
